1. Introduction

✪ This mod replaces portraits of historical characters by black and white photos. Secondly, for aesthetic reasons, it gives a black and white portraits style to generic and random characters.
☛ Currently, the mod contains about 3600 unique photos. Beyond all, and its one of the main interest of the mod, several hundred historical characters with generic portraits now have now their true faces!
☛ This mod brings a unique photo for a character in these both cases: with or without the DLC.
I explain, in vanilla, if a character with a generic portrait exists in the base game, and if he also exists in DLC files but with a unique portrait, players who own the DLC have the unique portrait for him, and non-owners have the generic portrait.

I try to match the 1936-1945 period (as long as I can find quality photos).
For example, you will see that the French democratic leader, Edouard Daladier, looks in my mod a lot older than he does in the vanilla game (his picture was inspired by a photo taken in 1927 – the photo I found was taken around 1938).
*Photos for leaders of the decolonized countries match the independance date (as for Western Sahara with his leader born in 1948 – Paradox chose leaders on the same criteria).
**If I can’t find a photo for a vanilla character who has a unique portrait, the mod uses his portrait in black and white.

4. Current version and compatibility
✓ Compatible with 1.14.5 and with all DLC ✓ Works also without DLC ✓ *If you want to make it compatible with Expert AI 4.0, use this submod: Historical Portraits & Expert AI compatibility [submod]. ✓ Historical Speeches & Songs Decisions and Historical[H] National Focus Dates
~ Partially compatible with Krieggerz World War II × NOT IRONMAN COMPATIBLE × Known incompatibilities: × total history changer mods like Road to 56, BlackICE, Expert IA*, Europe in Flames:AGORA[BETA], New ways alpha, Darkest Hour – Open BETA, -Operation Overhaul-, End of a New Beginning – Official Edition. × Beautiful States, Satisfying States, Ultra Historical Mod – Realism Overhaul, Sub-Ideology Rework for Vanilla, Total War mod, Winter Wars: A Scandinavian Expansion, Advanced Buildings & Industry. × Any other mod that modify portraits and history/countries files.
5. Known issues

⚠ Imprisonned soviet advisors have vanilla portraits in black and white style, because I don’t know how to integrate prison bars directly on photos.
⚠ There is no small portrait for generals/admirals who are generated through national focuses, events, decisions and those who are coded only in history/countries files. If Paradox will decide to update the game files and creat a character code line for them (into the "characters" file), it will be possible to implement these photos.
Example: Pranas Saladzius (Lithuania) and all generals of Pakistan.
