Millennium DC: Russian Crossroads
Hello! This is my first full-fledged mod.
The mod needs an original mod to work.
The mod focuses on reworking Russia and adds a new alternate-history focus branch for Slavic pagans. It is not just a small set of focuses, but an attempt to create a separate political path with its own atmosphere, ideas, events, and consequences for the country.
In addition to the new Slavic branch, the mod reorganizes Russia’s political focus branches into separate blocks. This was done to make the focus tree easier to navigate and to reduce freezes when opening it, especially in large mod setups and long campaigns.
The mod also adds mechanics related to the Wagner PMC, including dedicated events, rising tension, and the possibility of a coup. And, of course, there is a bit of political madness, because an alternate-history Russia in Hearts of Iron IV would feel suspiciously normal without it.
This is my first real experience with modding. I started working on this project back when Director’s Cut was still a submod for Millennium Dawn. This release is mostly a first proper test of the idea: I want to see whether people are interested in this direction. If the mod finds its audience, I would like to gradually rework Russia completely in the future, including politics, economy, the military, events, decisions, and various alternate paths.
All visual assets in the current version were created with the help of neural networks. If I eventually find an artist who can help with the visuals, I will try to replace some of the materials with higher-quality hand-made artwork. Unfortunately, I cannot draw myself, so for now the visuals rely on AI, patience, and a little bit of DDS file shamanism.
