Description:

Balkan Powder Keg is a new user created expansion for Hearts of Iron IV. It expands upon the existing nations that were releasable under Yugoslavia and adds in new nations such as Bosnia, Slovenia, Dalmatia, Vojvodina and Vardar Macedonia. This expansion is not meant to be historical, it does apply historical elements in situations but the overall objective of this expansion is to bring flavour, new experiences and fun fast gameplay to the Balkans, and Europe.

Each nation is under direct threat from their neighbours. It is a struggle for survival. It is up to you to lead your nation through the storm, make allies and become the dominant force in the Balkans to ensure the continuation of your nation and people!

Eight New Focus Trees

• Experience Balkan diplomacy and struggle for survival from the remnants of Yugoslavia as Bosnia, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia. Three extra releasable nations with focus trees included are Vardar Macedonia, Vojvodina and Dalmatia. Includes semi-historical and all out ludicrous paths such as Bosnia backing a second Arab revolt under the banner of an Islamic Bosnia.

New Leaders and Generals

• All nations have been totally fleshed out with historically accurate (As much as possible) leaders, ministers and generals. All portraits have been coloured. Includes generals such as Dragoljub "Draža" Mihailović, Josip Broz Tito to Jure Francetić and Rafael Boban along with generals for Bosnia, Slovenia and Montenegro. Many generals are not pictured in the screenshot(s), most of these generals are unlocked via changing of ideology and focuses.

New Graphics and UI

• Many new graphics items have been created specifically for this expansion. From unit and division icons to focus tree icons and ideas. Includes, although not visual, audio plays when selecting Croatian troops like when selecting British or German troops. Accompanied by this is also a reskin of all troops. Also included are tanks and aircraft for all states. It is jampacked with new content and aligns with the Hearts of Iron IV art style, mostly.

F.A.Qs

What mods can I run this with?
The mod has been structured in a way to allow great compatibility, but not 100% compatibility. Most mods can run alongside it but it is suggested to not use any of my enhanced mods (Apart from Dubrovnik Republic) and mods that overlap existing content relating to the nations included. Large scale mods like RD56 are a great example of the compatibility exhibited in this mod. There are some issues, but nothing game breaking. Merely cosmetic/graphic related content is impacted. It may not look as aesthetic, but it works fine. Not recommended to use with grand scale alt-history mods such as, but not limited to: Kaiserreich and other mods like it in scale.

My focus has no completion reward!
This can occur, typically on focuses relating to demanding territory. Do not fear, it has hidden rewards such as, but not limited to, coring of states and ideas. It might seem like a meaningless focus, but 90% of the time there is something to be gained by it.

What terrain mod are using in the screenshots?
Terrific question! I am using WW’s Map+ Ironman. It’s a great addon and I haven’t used any other terrain mod since.

Can I help out with development?
You sure can! Finding game breaking errors, sending suggesting and even submitting content is what is needed! If you wish to help out with further developing this mod, because new content can always be added to something like this, please leave a comment below expressing your interest and I can give you an add to discuss further.
